Most of my mornings start with a wet kiss on my nose, the famous “ got-to-go” dance on top my stomach or the overpowering stare, whine & sigh that says, something is in my yard, I just know it, I can feel it, I don’t care if it’s 4am, It’s mine & I want it now…. GET UP, Let’s Go, Let’s Go! Then there are the cold winter mornings that as each of the 5 blankets are pulled off the bed, 8 tiny little paws scurry into the next warm blanket for safe harbor. Much like trying to get a child up that does not want to go to school. NO MOM, I don’t want to get up… I can’t imagine starting the day without a cold wet nose in my face and counting all 14 goldfish in the pond during the morning coffee.

If you can’t tell already, I’m crazy about my pets. Guests that visit my home are alerted at the entrance with a sign reading “ My Home is maintained entirely for the comfort and convenience of my dogs”.
Although the house is very clean you may get a squeaky surprise when you sit down to chat. The pups are always hiding toys in the couch. A NEW MEANING FOR THE “ WARM and FUZZIES”. Many new buyers’ laugh when their REALTOR tells them…You’ll get the Warm & Fuzzies when we find the right house for you. Believe me, it happens every time. But lately the warm & fuzzies are accompanying the buyers in the form of their pets.
There are over 83.2 million pet-owning households in the USA, ( Source: American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, 2007-2008 National Pet Owners Survey). The 4 legged warm & fuzzies seem to be the reason for certain amenities and must haves’ in the buyer’s search for the right home. As a pet owner, I know the importance of having a pet friendly home. It’s much like childproofing and child safety for a home.
I have found the 2 main requests from my buyer’s are a fenced yard and types of floor covering. Most pet owners want to stay away from carpeting even if the pet is house broken. Tiles, Vinyl & Laminate are the #1 choices for most pet owners. A fenced in yard with room to run is usually on the list of Must Haves.
I understand your needs & concerns as a buyer when searching for a pet friendly home. I will be there for you every step of the way. I promise I won’t laugh at you when you say, “Ms. Fluffy needs a window facing the morning sunrise or Buster has to have a doggie door and mud room next to the back door. Maybe you need a pole barn for your miniature pet pony or a lake to train your Retriever for competition. A sunroom for your Cockatoo possibly? I am a person that buys only furniture that resists pet hair and is arranged so the “girls” can see out the windows. Pet gate hardware is installed on each open doorway when gates are needed. The girls have an upstairs and downstairs toy box and it took me a month to find a matching water bowl for the master bathroom.
Now, do you think I would laugh at any requests you may have in finding a pet friendly home? We love our pets and our home is their home too. When I’m not searching for or selling pet friendly homes, I’m searching for forever homes for homeless pets.
I’ve recently developed a public yahoo group to post Lost, Found & Sighted pets in our Evansville area to get these lost pets home safe. I spend several hours a week cross matching lost & found area pets. A % of my personal income is donated to local shelters and pet rescue organizations. I am a dedicated animal lover.
